Coating Excellence is known for listening to customers’ needs and providing products that meet and often exceed their requirements. One example of such practices came with a large customer’s request for a packaging pouch used for powdered drink mix. This product was required to perform well on horizontal packaging lines and to meet the need for a less
expensive alternative to the traditional pouch grade of paper/poly/foil/poly.

CEI’s knowledge of films, packaging equipment and barrier led to the successful development of a paper/poly/heat sealable metalized film grade to replace traditional PPFP. This product was extremely successful on the customer’s equipment and provided an excellent substitute for a traditional pouch. The foil and poly overcoat layers were replaced with the heat sealable metalized film to enable substantial yield savings. In addition, the usage of metalized film increased product puncture resistance and line speed on the customer’s equipment. The cost savings were in the neighborhood of 20% and have led to a revolution in this packaging market. The packaging line speeds increased by 10% and the customer received a package with increased puncture resistance and better shelf appeal.
